A formvar coated grid, stabilized with evaporated carbon film. This type of coating is excellent for specimen support, especially for ultra thin sections. Coated grids are optically checked followed by batch testing in the electron microscope. Packed in grid storage box. NOTE: All film is laid on the shiny side of the grid. Formvar is 5-6 nm thick with a 1 nm carbon coating.

QUANTIFOIL is a perforated Silicon dioxide SiO2 support foil with pre-defined hole size, shape and arrangement. Used in cryo-electron microscopy where the carbon film should be outside the frame of the image. 1 µm hole and 5 µm period.

QUANTIFOIL is a perforated support foil with pre-defined hole size, shape and arrangement. It has advantages in electron microscopy (EM) or low-energy electron point source (LEEPS) microscopy when compared with conventional holey film.
QUANTIFOIL with circular holes is used in cryo-electron tomographic reconstruction. The roundness of the holes is advantageous with respect to the formation of an ice layer of constant thickness. The whole size chosen depends on the magnification used, and on whether or not one wishes to include support film in the image. Assessment of the image quality is easier when foil is included in the picture, because the power spectrum of a foil is stronger than that of unsupported ice.

Ted Pella Inc Carbon Type-A, 300 mesh, Copper, 25/pk
Carbon Type-A: Carbon support films with a removable Formvar on the opposite side of the grid. When the Formvar is removed, by dipping in solvent, a pure carbon film remains. (Note: The Ultrathin Carbon Film on a Lacey Carbon Support Film, Prod. No. 01824, has no Formvar backing.) These films are stable under all EM operating conditions and are for use where the presence of a Formvar layer cannot be tolerated. Pure carbon films tend to be more delicate than those with a Formvar backing and require more delicate handling during specimen preparation than most other support films.
Grainger Conductive Elec Tape 18 Lx1 W CFL-5A
The TAPECASE Conductive Electrical Tape 18" Length x 1" Width CFL-5A is a conductive aluminum foil tape with conductive acrylic adhesive. It has a thickness of 3.5 mils and is UL listed. This tape is designed for EMI/RFI shielding, grounding, and static charge/discharge applications. It can be applied to metals, plastics, glass, and more. The operating temperature range is -40°F to 300°F. This 18" x 1" roll of tape comes in a dispenser box for easy use.
